We’re excited to be launching our online hub, based in Dorset, designed to make STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) engaging and accessible for all.
At The STEM Hut, we will be providing lesson plans, downloadable resources, project kits and expert advice to support parents, young people, home educators, and teachers. Our goal is to transform STEM education into a fun, hands-on adventure that connects classroom learning with real-world context.

Our story
Hi, I’m Katy — the founder of The STEM Hut; a teacher and engineer with a passion for learning through play and opening up pathways into STEM.
After focusing on STEM throughout school, I earned a master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and started my career solving big manufacturing challenges, from aerospace to civil engineering. Volunteering in STEM outreach soon sparked my journey into education. Before long, I was running a hub of STEM clubs and studying for my PGCE in Primary Education with a maths specialism, eager to share my love for engineering with the next generation.
Through these experiences, I’ve seen first-hand how STEM can unlock a child’s potential and spark creativity. Whether it’s watching a child’s eyes light up as they solve a tricky problem or seeing them tinker with robotics, I’ve come to understand just how powerful — and fun — engaging with STEM can be.
I started The STEM Hut to share that joy and excitement. My mission is to make learning an adventure, helping every young person see the world as a playground for their curiosity. Whether your young person loves building with bricks, is programming their first robot, or is ready to take their passion into adulthood, I’m here to support and guide them on this journey.
